2507 Introduction SAF2507 alloy is a super duplex stainless steel composed of 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum and 7% nickel. Its strength and corrosion resistance are strong, mainly used in chemical processing, petrochemical and submarine equipment. It has strong resistance to chloride corrosion, high thermal conductivity and low coefficient of thermal expansion. High chromium, molybdenum and nickel content gives it a high resistance to point corrosion, gap corrosion and uniform corrosion. Its impact strength is also very high, SAF2507 alloy is not suitable for use in a temperature environment higher than 300 ° C, long-term in such an environment, its toughness will be reduced.
SAF The high chromium and molybdenum content of 2507 makes it have strong overall corrosion resistance to organic acids such as formic acid and acetic acid. SAF2507 alloy also has strong corrosion resistance to inorganic acids, especially those containing chlorides. Compared with 904L, SAF2507 has stronger corrosion resistance to diluted sulfuric acid mixed with chloride ions. 904L is an austenitic alloy designed to resist pure sulfuric acid corrosion. Grade 316L is not intended for use in hydrochloric acid environments, where it may be subject to local or overall corrosion. SAF2507 can be used in diluted hydrochloric acid environment, with strong resistance to point corrosion and anti-backlash corrosion ability.
The low carbon content of SAF 2507 greatly reduces the risk of carbide precipitation in the intergranular during heat treatment, and as a result, the alloy is highly resistant to carbde-related intergranular corrosion.
1.Stress corrosion cracking
The biphase structure of SAF 2507 makes it have strong resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Due to its higher alloy content,SAF 2507 has better corrosion resistance and strength than 2205.SAF2507 is especially suitable for offshore oil and gas extraction equipment.
2.Pitting corrosion
There are many ways to test the point corrosion resistance of steel products in chloride-containing solutions. The above data is based on the electrochemical technology mentioned in ASTMG61. The critical point corrosion temperature of high performance stainless steel in 1M sodium chloride solution is specified. The experimental results demonstrate the excellent resistance of SAF2507 to point corrosion. The test data for each level is represented by a dark gray color.
3.Clearance corrosion:
Cracks are almost inevitable in construction and other aspects, which makes stainless steel more susceptible to corrosion in chloride environments. SAF 2507 has a strong resistance to crack corrosion. The critical temperature of SAF 2507 and other high performance stainless steel products against crack corrosion is shown in the figure above. The isocorrosion curve in sulfuric acid containing 2000ppm chloride ions is 0.1 mm/year. The isocorrosion curve in hydrochloric acid is 0.1 mm/year. The dashed line represents the boiling point.
